Connect Project: evaluation of the effect of pipeline ducts on landscape connectivity for mastofauna and analysis of the effectiveness of fauna crossing structures

Description: The main objectives of this project are to provide necessary and sufficient information to (1) evaluate the need for the implementation of fauna crossing structures (dossel bridges) across the pipeline structure, and (2) evaluate the effectiveness of structures that can mitigate the fragmentation effect of habitat caused by pipeline to wild forest mammal species.

Situation: In progress; Nature: Research.
Students involved: Undergrad: (8) / Academic master's: (2)/ Ph.D.: (2).

Financier (s): Transpetro/Petrobrás - Financial aid.

ILTER - Global climate change and the functioning of Coastal Campos Basin ecosystems: a space-temporal perspective

Description: The general objective of the proposed study is to evaluate the history of the influence of global environmental changes on carbon cycling and biological diversity in coastal ecosystems, and the current and local anthropic interference in this relationship, using the restinga ecosystem and the PARNA lagoons. Jurubatiba restinga as a model.

MastoCafe

This is a project for popularization of science. The main objective is to present natural history, ecology, evolution and curiosities about mammals for the general public and to stimulate the conservation. Grad (3) and undergrad students (4) are involved preparing material and interacting with the page followers. <https://www.instagram.com/mastocafe/>

Taxonomy, bionomy and community structure of small mammals in Northeastern Brazil.

Description: The broader objective of this project is to analyze the variation in the structure of the communities of small terrestrial mammals in the northeastern semi-arid along the latitudinal gradient between the south center of Bahia and the north of Ceará, in a hierarchical design based on the units geographical features of the National Plague Service.

Situation: Finished; Nature: Research.

Composition of the mammal fauna of the Serra do Ouro Branco, Minas Gerais, and evaluation of the influence of human activities on the  community and population structure of small mammals

Description: This study aimed to survey the small mammals of Serra do Ouro Branco through sampling in forest fragments, including preserved environments and environments altered by rural subsistence activities. To analyze the influence of rural activities on the composition and abundance of species of small mammals and on the displacement of individuals between forest fragments, in order to obtain information that allows the proposal of measures for managing the diversity of Serra do Ouro Branco.

Situation: Completed; Nature: Research.
Students involved: Undergrad: (2) / Specialization: (1) / Academic master's: (3).
